Urban Agritourism

Spend a day on a real, working farm—without leaving Toronto.

Urban agritourism at Crooked Farmz invites you to step out of the abstract and back into the living world. Set within an 11-acre working farm at Downsview Park, Crooked Farmz is a proud member of the Many Hands Urban Farm Collective, stewarding land, soil, and community in the heart of the city. Here, you don’t just visit a farm—you participate in it.

This is an invitation to reconnect with soil under your fingernails, the rhythm of planting and harvest, the smell of compost warming in the sun, and the quiet satisfaction of meaningful, physical work. The sounds of traffic recede into the distance. Insects move throughout the rows. Geese descend into the nearby pond. The wind carries the scent of earth and green growth. You are outdoors, present, and engaged.

Urban agritourism experiences at Crooked Farmz are hands-on and immersive. Guests engage directly in real farm activities—planting seedlings, feeding soil life, harvesting vegetables, tending compost systems, and learning how healthy ecosystems function from the ground up. These experiences are deeply educational, grounded in ecological farming practices, soil health, and the realities of climate change, while remaining accessible, joyful, and embodied.

We offer guided farm tours, in-season pick-your-own harvest events, and facilitated workshops designed to spark curiosity and connection. Whether you are touching compost for the first time or deepening an existing relationship with land-based work, each visit is an opportunity to learn by doing.

Urban agritourism at Crooked Farmz is well suited for small and medium size groups:

  • Corporate retreats and corporate wellness programming
  • Gardening clubs and community groups
  • School groups and educational institutions
  • Teams seeking grounding, creativity, and connection beyond the screen

Every event is custom-crafted. We work closely with you to design an experience that aligns with your goals, group size, season, and level of engagement—whether reflective, celebratory, or skill-building.

Sample Experiences

  • Farm tour + harvest-your-own vegetables, followed by a retreat to Cucinato Studio to prepare a farm-to-table three-course Italian luncheon together with Chef Mark
  • Orchard care + apple harvest, then retreat to local bakery The Rolling Pin to prepare fresh apple pies
  • Climate change talk + regenerative soil health workshop, paired with hands-on compost production
  • Homemade fertilizer workshop, learning how to ferment locally available plants into traditional nutrient-rich inputs that can be brought home

These experiences blend education, collaboration, and sensory richness—muddy boots, shared meals, thoughtful conversations, and the satisfaction of tangible work completed together.

Urban agritourism at Crooked Farmz is about more than learning—it’s about remembering what it feels like to be part of a living system. To slow down. To engage your hands, your senses, and your curiosity. To spend time on land that feeds the city and to leave with soil on your clothes, knowledge in your body, and a renewed sense of connection to the world around you.

Come farm with us. We’ll take care of the rest.
