CSA stands for Community-Supported Agriculture—a model that connects producers and consumers more directly by inviting members to subscribe in advance to a farm’s seasonal output. First developed in the 1960s by Booker T. Whatley, a professor of agriculture at Tuskegee University, CSAs help farmers plan, invest, and deliver high-quality, local food and farm products while building resilient local infrastructure.
The Crooked Farmz CSA Model
At Crooked Farmz, our CSA focuses on living soil biology. Your subscription supports the cultivation of beneficial microbes, delivered to you as a seasonal series of freshly brewed compost teas designed to improve soil health, plant vitality, and long-term garden resilience.
Because compost tea is a living, perishable product, freshness matters. Our CSA model allows us to brew in small, intentional batches and meet subscribers monthly throughout the summer to deliver compost tea at peak biological activity—directly to your garden or growing space.

Our CSA Packages
Crooked Farmz CSA subscriptions include 4 freshly-brewed compost teas, delivered to you on prescribed dates once per month from June until September. These are available in four sizes:

Extended Season CSA options are now also available for those with more intensive growing needs in our East York and Leaside-Bennington delivery areas. These provide 6 compost teas to your garden or backyard farm, beginning in early May and stretching until mid-October.
